Around 30 people came to Cropwell Meeting this past Sunday to hear Quaker peace activist and storyteller George Lakey talk about his long work on Civil Rights, nonviolence, and environmental activism. He came with stories of societies that were able to make changes and mapped out a path forward for the U.S.
A partial list of campaigns George has worked for over the decades includes Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Mississippi Freedom Summer, A Quaker Action Group, Movement for a New Society, Campaign to Stop the B-1 Bomber and Promote Peace Conversion, Men Against Patriarchy, Jobs with Peace, Training for Change, and Earth Quaker Action Team.
